Case Study: Mass Production of Heat-Transfer Printed Webbing and Elastic Bands

This customer specializes in the production of various types of woven straps and elastic bands. With a wide range of specifications and models, significant variations in order batch sizes, and frequent order changes, this has been a major pain point in production planning.
Project Requirements
- With a wide variety of webbing widths, frequent job changeovers are required;
- Elastic materials are sensitive to tension, requiring that patterns remain unstretched and maintain uniform spacing;
- High precision is required for the alignment of repeating patterns;
- The goal is to reduce machine setup time after a job change.
Solution Configuration
We equipped the client with a sublimation ribbon printing machine featuring servo-driven ribbon feed and constant tension control, coupled with stable temperature and pressure control units. When switching jobs, the operator simply calls up the corresponding process parameters based on the specifications, reducing the need for repeated manual adjustments.
Validation and Delivery
For the customer’s primary webbing specifications, we conducted item-by-item sample verification to determine the optimal temperature, speed, and tension parameters, which were then compiled into a process sheet and delivered with the equipment. During installation and commissioning, we also provided training to operators on job changeovers and routine maintenance.
Delivery Results
After the equipment went into production, the customer achieved continuous and stable production of multiple web specifications. Issues such as pattern stretching and uneven spacing were resolved, and the time required for job changeovers and machine setup was significantly reduced compared to the previous equipment.
